The Erice International School of Science Journalism and Communication is inviting applications for 35 fellowships to attend the 2015 Course on “The Science of Light”, that will take place from May 8th to May 13th, 2015 at the Ettore Majorana Centre for Scientific Culture in the Sicilian medieval town of Erice. The deadline to apply is February 15th, 2015.

The fellowships (30 full and 5 partial) are aimed to:

  • science journalists;
  • science communicators;
  • students in science journalism and communication.

In detail, there are:

30 FELLOWSHIPS FOR PARTICIPANTS BASED IN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
These fellowships will cover:

• school fee;
• accommodations in Erice (double shared room);
• travel expenses to/from Erice: airfare, train and bus tickets (no taxi included).

Please note: travel expenses will only be covered for the arrival on May 8th and the departure on May 13th.

5 FELLOWSHIPS FOR PARTICIPANTS BASED IN NON-EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
These fellowships will cover:
• school fee;
• accommodations in Erice (double shared room);
• transfer from Palermo or Trapani airport to/from Erice (no taxi included).

Please note: transfers will only be covered for the arrival on May 8th and the departure on May 13th.

Applicants are required to send their CV (max 1 page) and a motivation letter (max 1 page) describing:

• Plans for their professional future;
• Why they think participating in the summer School would benefit their career;

DEADLINES
The deadline to apply is February 15th, 2015. Applications that should reach us after this date will not be taken into consideration. You will be informed of the acceptance or rejection of your application by March 5th, 2015.

Please note: Candidates not selected for a fellowship will still be allowed to attend the school by paying the fee of 500€ that includes the accommodation and meals in Erice.
